Things to do in Tällberg
You do not have to leave the village to fill your day with experiences. Tällberg is a village best explored at a leisurely pace, with winding roads, traditional red timber houses, views of Lake Siljan and nature right on the doorstep.
Walk through Tällberg and towards Digerberget
Put on your walking shoes and discover Tällberg on foot. From Gyllene Hornet, you can walk through the village and continue out into the surrounding countryside. Take a walk towards Digerberget and enjoy beautiful views of the landscape along the way.
It is an easy activity for both adults and children and a lovely way to discover more of Tällberg without having to take the car.
Enjoy a fika at Dalmål Kafé & Hantverk
In the heart of Tällberg, you will find Dalmål Kafé & Hantverk, where you can sit down for a crispy waffle, homemade treats or something else delicious. Waffles have been served here since 1953 and have become a true Tällberg classic.
While you are here, take some time to browse the handicrafts, interior details and carefully selected products in the shop. Dalmål Kafé & Hantverk is located at Hantverksgården next to Hotell Klockargården and makes a lovely stop during a walk through the village.
Meet the animals at Erkers Lantgård
For families with children, Erkers Lantgård is a charming place to visit in Tällberg. Here, children can get close to the animals and experience a little of life on a traditional farm in the heart of the village.
A visit is easy to combine with a walk through Tällberg and a fika stop at Dalmål Kafé & Hantverk.
Hiking and cycling around Tällberg
Tällberg and the Lake Siljan area are just as rewarding to explore on foot as by bike. Forest roads, villages, rolling landscapes and routes with views of Lake Siljan are all waiting to be discovered.
Gyllene Hornet is Bike Friendly & Hike Friendly and offers facilities to make your stay easier when you want to be active. Cyclists have access to a bike wash, basic tools and laundry facilities, as well as the option to bring their bike into their room.
During summer 2027, you can also join guided hikes, cycling tours and excursions in the area. The guided tours start from Dalmål Kafé & Hantverk in Tällberg.
Things to do with children in Tällberg
Tällberg is a great starting point for a family holiday in Dalarna. In addition to exploring the village and its surroundings, there are plenty of activities at Gyllene Hornet, making it easy to combine days out with time at the hotel.
The hotel has a 20-metre indoor pool, a playroom, billiards, games and a sports hall. This also means there is plenty to do when the weather does not quite go according to plan.
During summer, pack your swimwear and head down to Lake Siljan for a few hours of swimming, a picnic and ice cream.

From Tällberg, you can easily reach several of Dalarna’s most popular family attractions. Many are perfect for a day trip, allowing you to head out after breakfast and return to Gyllene Hornet in the evening.

At Naturum Dalarna in Siljansnäs, the whole family can learn more about the nature, wildlife and geology of Dalarna. Exhibitions and activities introduce visitors to the forests, local wildlife and the meteorite impact that once shaped the area around Lake Siljan.
Naturum is located on Björkberget, where you can also explore the surrounding nature and enjoy beautiful views across the Lake Siljan area.
Climb at Högt & Lågt in Rättvik
For families looking for adventure, Högt & Lågt in Rättvik offers climbing courses of varying difficulty, giving both children and adults the chance to challenge themselves among the treetops.
The park is open during selected periods of the year and advance booking is recommended.
Spend the day at Leksand Sommarland
Leksand Sommarland is one of Dalarna’s major summer attractions for families. Here you will find a water park, rides and plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained for the day.
From Tällberg, it is easy to visit Sommarland for the day before returning to Gyllene Hornet for dinner and perhaps one last swim in the pool.
Step into a fairytale at Tomteland
At Sagolandet Tomteland in Gesunda outside Mora, children can enter a world filled with fairytales, characters, performances and adventures for the whole family.
Tomteland is open during selected periods of the year, including summer, winter and certain school holidays.

Things to do in Tällberg in autumn and winter
There is plenty to discover in Tällberg and Dalarna even after summer has come to an end. Autumn is a wonderful time for hiking, cycling and excursions around Lake Siljan as the landscape changes colour and the pace of the village becomes a little quieter.
In winter, cross-country skiing and downhill skiing are available in several locations around Dalarna. Granberget, Bjursås Berg & Sjö and Orsa Grönklitt are some of the options for combining your stay in Tällberg with a day on the slopes.
